When to seek orthodontic treatment

• Children: Age 6 or 7.  Once the anterior permanent teeth (four front teeth) and first permanent molars (behind the baby teeth) erupt, children should be evaluated for orthodontics and monitored as they grow and develop. If needed, an early phase of treatment may be initiated, which provides growth modification and initial correction-allowing for more diverse and beneficial treatment options.  It's always better to see children early, and not do anything, than see them later, and wish you had.

• Adolescents: The majority of orthodontic treatment is done in the adolescent stage, when the permanent second molars have erupted- approximately at age 12.

• Adults: It’s never too late to emphasize your smile, and more adults are now considering orthodontics. Clear brackets and Invisalign provide subtler alternatives to traditional orthodontic treatment for those that are reluctant to become "brace faces".  Our oldest patient so far was 84!
